James Sudler “Sud” Cockey
February 26, 1926-April 19, 2014
James Sudler “Sud” Cockey III died peacefully at home on April 19. He was 88 years old.
The son of James S. Cockey, Jr. and Frances Hoyt Cockey, he was born in Baltimore, Md., on February 26, 1926. He grew up on Kent Island, on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy in 1946 after serving in World War II.
Sud was a graduate of the University of Maryland and was an avid University of Maryland athletics fan.
He worked as a Civil Engineer for C.J. Langenfelder & Sons for more than 40 years, working on a number of major construction projects on the east coast, including the N.Y. State Thruway, the Wheeling Tunnel, and the Big Walker Mountain Tunnel in Wytheville, Va.
He is survived by his wife Kathleen Fogarty Cockey and their three children: Mary Kate Linnihan, her husband Kevin, and their children, Connor and Jack; James S. Cockey IV, his wife Stephanie, and their children James and Natalie; and Caroline LaFleur, her husband David, and their children Tess and Sam. He is also survived by a brother Ralph, of Salisbury, Md., and was predeceased by a brother William of Kent Island, Md.
The family received visitors and a funeral service was held on Apr. 22 at Quigley Bros. Funeral Home in Cornwall . Burial took place in St. Thomas Cemetery in Cornwall.

Carmen Donato of Cornwall died on April 21 at home. He was 84. The family will receive visitors from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 24 at the DiDonato Funeral Home, 1290 Route 9W in Marlboro.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 25 at the Union Presbyterian Church, 44 Balmville Road in Newburgh.

Robert “Bob” Waring Fitzgerald
August 10, 1940-April 19, 2014
Robert “Bob” Waring Fitzgerald, age 73 of Fairborn, OH, formerly of Gulfport, Miss., passed away on April 19 at Hospice of Dayton with his family at his side.
Bob was born August 10, 1940 in Middletown, N.Y., and resided in Cornwall for most of his youth, graduating from Cornwall Central High School in 1958. After serving his country for three years in the US Navy he embarked on a 35 year career in US Civil Service.
Bob was a devoted family man, who enjoyed being involved with his children and grandsons. He took pleasure in traveling, most sports, and never met a stranger. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Bob was preceded in death by his mother, Evelyn Fitzgerald; a grandson, Jesse Lee Algarin, II; a daughter-in-law, Lisa D. Fitzgerald; and lifelong friend and foster brother, Robert Goldstein.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Phyllis Hinman Fitzgerald of Fairborn, Ohio, formerly of Cornwall-On-Hudson; a daughter, Virginia Fitzgerald Algarin; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert Scott Fitzgerald and wife Sherry; grandsons, Raymond Scott Fitzgerald, Robert Joseph Fitzgerald, all of Fairborn, Ohio; brother and sister-in-law, Richard Hinman and wife Joan of Stamford, N.Y.; dear friend and foster sister, Shirley McGuire Licht and husband Richard and family of Knoxville, TN; step-brother, Ray Fitzgerald, Sr. and nephew, Ray Fitzgerald, Jr. of Reading Center, N.Y.; his favorite niece, Madeline Nixon of Cincinnati; as well as extended family and many friends.
The family received friends on April 23 in the Belton-Stroup Funeral Home in Fairborn. A funeral service was held on April 24. in the St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church, Rev. Ruth B. Paulus officiating. Burial with military honors followed in the Byron Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton or to the Greene County Animal Shelter.

Paul Andrew Florio
July 3, 1962-April 18, 2014
Paul Andrew Florio a Cornwall resident passed away at the age of 51 on Friday April 18.
He was born on July 3, 1962 in Cornwall to Nicholas and Diana Florio.
He was a 1981 graduate of Cornwall Central High School and a graduate of the B.O.C.E.S Ornamental Horticulture Program. There he developed his love for landscaping and started his own business.
Later, Paul and his brother Mark started Music Maker D.J.s, a business that lasted over 20 years and a bond that lasted forever.
Paul loved camping with his family ever since he was a little boy. He also loved cooking, photography and entertaining friends.
But the most important thing in his life was his ministry. As an elder in his congregation he loved talking to people and helping them cope with their difficulties, as well as sharing the good news from the Bible.
Paul is survived by his wife Brenda of 30 years, and their two daughters Jennifer and Kimberly and his beagle Snickers. Also surviving are his parents Nicholas and Diana Florio, and his sister Andrea and her husband Christopher Hunter.
He leaves behind his mother-in-law Betty Pfeffer, brother-in-law Ernie Pfeffer and his wife Fran, and his sister-in-law Susan Maynard, as well as countless aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Memorial Service will be held on May 3 at 10 a.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses at 25 Beakes Road, New Windsor.
Mary F. Parmerter
January 18, 1927-April 20, 2014
Mary F. Parmerter, 87, of Rome, N.Y. passed away on April 20 at Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare Center. She was born January 18, 1927, in Detroit, Mich., the daughter of Joseph and Mary DeBenedictis Ferri. She was a graduate of Highland Falls High School.
Mary worked for the United States Postal Service for over 20 years. She loved to travel and was an accomplished artist and doll maker.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Roberta and Ronald Broughton, of Rome, and Rhonda and Robert Carney, of Middletown, R.I.; a son and daughter-in-law, Gerard (Tony) and Laurie Parmerter, of Cornwall; a sister, Theresa Roosa, of Virginia Beach, Va.; a brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Lisbeth Ferri, of Cornwall-on-Hudson; three grandchildren, Christina (Lee) Fyock, Gordon Ewing, and Eric (Danette) Broughton; four precious great-grandchildren, Erika, Alexandra, Colin, and Isabelle; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters, Antoinette Koury and Loretta Neubauer.
Funeral services were held on April 23 at Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome, with the Rev. Robert Kelly officiating. Graveside services were held on April 24 at St. Thomas Cemetery in Cornwall. There were no calling hours.

Timothy J. Riley

Timothy J. Riley, of Cornwall NY entered into eternal rest on April 18, 2014 at home . He was 53 years old.
The son of Ernest L Riley and Patricia White Riley, Timothy was born on March 19, 1961 in Newburgh.
Timothy was a graduate of Cornwall Central High School. He was employed in the Building and Grounds Dept. at the United States Military Academy at West Point. He honorably and proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Air Force 1982-86.
He is survived by his mother Patricia A (White) Riley of Cornwall. His brother Michael Riley and his wife Denise of Cornwall-On-Hudson; his sisters: Anne Riley Nichols and her husband James of Fairfax, Va. and Susan Riley McNeely and husband Robert of Walden. Nieces and nephews: Matthew Albers, James Nichols, Sean Riley, Andy Riley, Kyle and Colin McNeely, Meghann Albers McConnell, Taylor McNeely and a grand nephew Liam McConnell. He was predeceased by his father Ernest (Bucky) Riley and nephew Connor McNeely.
The family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, April 25 at Quigley Bros. Funeral Home, 337 Hudson Street in Cornwall-on-Hudson. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 26 at St. Thomas of Canterbury Church, 340 Hudson Street in Cornwall-On-Hudson.
