Carole Ann Bellis

September 9, 1941-March 21, 2014

Carole Ann Bellis of Cornwall-On-Hudson and The Villages, Fla. entered into rest suddenly on March 21, in The Villages Regional Hospital in Florida, She was 72 years old.

The daughter of late Warren H and Marion King Bellis. Carole was born on Sept 9, 1941 in Newburgh . She graduated from Newburgh Free Academy in 1959 and Hartwick College in 1963. Carole taught at North Junior High School from 1963 until her retirement in June 1996. She was selected as the 1994 Educator of Excellence by the New York State English Council.

Carole is survived by her brothers Donald Bellis and his wife Jan, Kenneth Bellis and his wife Kitty, Warren Bellis and his wife Jessie, and her sister Carol Jean Thorn and husband Bill. Also survived by a nephew Bill Thorn Jr, nieces Rayla and Chalia Bellis . She is also survived by her best friend of 40 yrs Toni Douglas and Chris, Kristen, Zack and Camryn

Douglas, her “adopted” children and grandchildren.  Carole leaves behind many dear friends. The “Happy Stitchers” of The Villages, Fla. filled Carole’s last months with friendship, fun and joy.

Friends are invited to join a celebration of a life well-lived on Saturday April 12, from 2-6 PM   at Quigley Bros Funeral Home, 337 Hudson Street, Cornwall-On-Hudson . Burial will be private.  In lieu of flowers , memorial contributions may be made  in Carole’s name to Orange County Veteran’s Food Pantry, 111 Craigville Road, Goshen NY 10924 or Habitat for Humanity of Greater Newburgh, 125 Washington Street,  Newburgh NY 12550

Janet M. Yeoman

November 11, 1938-April 5, 2014

Janet  M. Yeoman of Cornwall entered into eternal rest on April 5 at St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital in Newburgh. She was 75 years old.

The daughter of Edwin Swenson and Corabelle  Thompkins, she  was born on Nov. 11, 1938 in Cornwall. Janet  was retired after working for Electronic Tabulation Co. in Newburgh. She was active in hand made crafts.

“Janet loved her family and her grandchildren,” her family said. “She loved making crafts and camping in the great outdoors. Mom will be dearly missed by her family and loved ones.”

Janet is survived by her husband of 53 years, Wesley R. Yeoman at home; her sons William R. Yeoman and his wife Marta, Wayne E. Yeoman and his wife Miriam,  both of Cornwall; her daughter Cynthia D. Overton and her husband William of Wallkill; her twin sister Joyce Bruyn of Florida, her sisters Carol Rosier of Florida  and Ruthie Rolfe of North Carolina; her grandchildren Joshua and Ashley Yeoman, David and Nicholas Robinson, Brandyn  and Anna Yeoman, Nicholas Angel, Tiara and Corey Overton.

The family received visitors at Quigley Brothers Funeral Home in Cornwall-on-Hudson.  A funeral service  was held on Wednesday, April 9 at the funeral home, and was followed by burial in Woodlawn Cemetery in New Windsor.
