Lena Cavallo
August 16, 1916-January 30, 2014
“Nanny” to her seven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren, Lena Cavallo passed this life at 97 years of age from the Kaplan Hospice in Newburgh. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Vittoria DePaolo and was raised with her sister, Catherine and brother, Gerard in The Bronx and Manhattan. She was the widow of Joseph Cavallo. They raised a family in The Bronx.
She was the mother of Lucille Costanzo (Ralph) and Anthony Cavallo (Betty) of Cornwall. She was the grandmother of LeeAnn Sargeant (Alan), Ronald Costanzo (Danielle), Joseph Cavallo (Kathi), Steven Costanzo (Carla), Alicia Hughes (Ted), Tony Cavallo (Kara), and Amy Barkdoll (Clint). She was the great-grandmother of Meghan Hughes, Matthew Cavallo, Kevin Hughes, Joseph and Nicholas Cavallo, Nicholas Costanzo, Natalia and Juliana Costanzo, William Barkdoll, Alana Lee Sargeant, Alexander Costanzo, Luke Barkdoll, Libby and Mia Costanzo. She last resided with her daughter and son-in-law in Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY.
Lena enjoyed her time as wife and mother specializing in grand holiday meals for her extended family. She worked in several positions leading up to her employment with the Department of Motor Vehicles. After retirement and widowhood, she stayed active by volunteering in several organizations involved with the care of children and the aged. She held off her own aging by walking almost everywhere.
After a fall she moved in with her daughter in Orange County. She became active at the Cornwall Senior Citizens Center
She enjoyed immensely her travels to the beach with grandson, Ronald, and family at their home in Naples, Fla. Mostly, she found pleasure in the company of her family and dear friends, especially Josephine Gambardella.
Visitors were received on Feb. 1 and 2 at the Quigley Brothers Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass was held on Feb. 3 at St Thomas of Canterbury Church in Cornwall-on-Hudson. Burial followed in St. Raymond’s Cemetery, in the Bronx.
Vivian J. Sheridan

Vivian J. Sheridan age 82, died Monday, Feb. 3 at The Kaplan Family Hospice Residence in Newburgh.
Vivian was a retired X-ray technician and also served in the U.S. Air Force. She enjoyed gardening, home projects, travel, reading and spending time with her family. She married Francis Sheridan, who pre-deceased her in 1999.
She is survived by her children Barbara Conley and husband Joel of South Carolina, Karen Nunnally of Cornwall, Michelle Fall and husband Austin of Virginia Beach, Va., her grandchildren, Christian Conley, Ryan Nunnally, Bethany, Daniel and Shannon Fall, and her great grandchildren, Caitlin and Thomas Conley, her sister and best friend Eleanor Romanos of Cornwall, brother Donald Van Buren of Westtown, N.Y. and many nieces and nephews.
The fami;ly will receive visitors from 2-4 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 8 at the Quigley Brothers Funeral Home, 337 Hudson Street in Cornwall-on-Hudson.
The funeral service and burial will be private at a later date.
