Senator Bill Larkin and Assemblyman James Skoufis met with Nirav Shah yesterday to discuss the plans for the emergency room in Cornwall. Mr. Shah is the commissioner of the New York State Department of Health.
After the meeting, Sen. Larkin described his reaction. “I was pleased to meet with Commissioner Shah today,” he said “to personally discuss our communities concerns with St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital’s proposal. I believe that Commissioner Shah was sympathetic and understanding…. I look forward to working with the Commissioner in the future to ensure that all residents of our community have access to quality healthcare.”
The Assemblyman also thought the session was worthwhile. “Our meeting with the Department of Health Commissioner was productive,” Mr. Skoufis said. “Mr. Shah has assured us that he will be examining all of the information that has been presented to him and the Department. I will continue to do everything I can to keep the emergency room open full-time and stand with the families and communities that depend on the Cornwall Campus.”
