Linda Ibrahim, a 28-year-old Cornwall-on-Hudson woman, has been charged with the hit-and-run death of Eric Geter.
The accident occurred before dawn on Jan. 9 in New Windsor. Mr. Geter was walking to work when he was struck by a car and killed.
The New Windsor Police located Ms. Ibrahim on Jan. 16 after discovering her car (a 1988 Chrysler LeBaron) in a local body shop. The vehicle’s windshield and right front side had been damaged.
The police brought Ms. Ibrahim to the New Windsor headquarters for questioning, and later charged her with vehicular homicide and leaving the scene of a fatal motor vehicle accident. Both are Class D felonies.
Ms. Ibrahim was arraigned on Thursday night, Jan. 16, and remanded to Orange County Jail with bail set at $50,000.
Cornwall-on-Hudson Police Chief Steve Dixon said that, as a courtesy, he was notified of the investigation. He offered his department’s help, but it wasn’t needed.
