George R. Krom
September 26, 1921-January 12, 2014
George R. Krom died at the Kaplan Family Hospice in Newburgh on Jan. 12. He was 92 and a resident of both Cornwall-on-Hudson and Fort Pierce, Fla.
The son of George and Helen Templeton Krom, he was born in Newburgh on Sept. 26, 1921. He was married to Sylvia Brach Krom, and was retired after serving as the president of Windsor Building Supplies in Newburgh.
He was a past president of the YMCA Board of Directors, a member of the Greater Newburgh Chamber of Commerce, the Cornwall Hospital, the Empire State Sand and Gravel Association, the National Sand and Gravel Association, the Cornwall Presbyterian Church, the Storm King Golf Club and the Meadow Wood Country Club in Fort Pierce, Fla.
“George always lived life at his fullest,” his family said. “He was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing bridge.”
Survivors include his wife Sylvia Brach Krom, at home; his sons George R. Krom III and wife Laura, and Derek F. Krom and wife Sunny; his daughter Kathleen Krom and husband Kim Bloomer, all of Cornwall-on-Hudson; his sister Nancy Krom Nicholas of Dover, N.J.; his step children Charles Carnes and wife Bernadette, and Sandy Stufano and husband Chris; his brother-in-law Richard Bakker of Wallkill; his grandchildren Kiersten, Kayley and Brendan Carnes; and Ashley and Tyler Stufano.
He was predeceased by his brother and sister Donald Krom and Ruth Englehart.
The family received visitors at Quigley Brothers Funeral Home on Wednesday, Jan. 15. Plans for a funeral will be announced at a later date, and burial will be private.

Janet Mary McCauley
January 13, 1924-January 3, 2014
Janet Mary McCauley died at St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital in Newburgh on Jan. 3. She was 89 and a resident of Cornwall.
The daughter of James and Effie Decker Mead, she was born in Cornwall on Jan. 13, 1924. She was retired after working as a clerk for Clark’s Pharmacy in Newburgh. She was also a representative for Avon, Stanley Home Products and Tupperware.
Survivors include her son Walter McCauley of Cornwall; her brother James Mead; her sisters Mona Lisa Mead of the Town of Newburgh and Gertrude Curtis of Walden.
She was predeceased by her son John (Jack) McCauley, her daughter Janet Slack, her brother Gordon Mead and her sister Helen Mead.
There will be no visitation, and the funeral service will be private.

Thomas James Mc Mahon
November 4, 1939-January 7, 2014
Thomas James Mc Mahon, a 38 year resident of New Windsor, New York, died unexpectedly on Jan. 7. He was 74 years of age, and a retired supervisor for the New York State Department of Labor in New York City.
The son of Sarah Mc Laughlin Mc Mahon and Daniel F. Mc Mahon, he was born Nov. 4, 1939, in the Bronx. He was a graduate of Mount Saint Michael Academy in the Bronx and New Mexico State University, Las Cruces, New Mexico. He was a parishioner of St. Thomas of Canterbury Church, Cornwall-on Hudson, a member of the Knights of Columbus, a volunteer for Meals-on-Wheels, and a five-term member of the New Windsor Ethics Committee.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Joan Mc Mahon, of New Windsor, his son Thomas Mc Mahon, of New Windsor, daughter Elizabeth Wingfield and her husband David of Cornwall-on-Hudson, and beloved grandchildren Norah and Andrew.
He is also survived by his brothers Daniel Mc Mahon and wife Eleanor, Michael Mc Mahon and wife Nancy, and his sisters Honora Donovan, Joan Ward, and Mary Mc Mahon. He was pre-deceased by his brother John Mc Mahon. He also leaves behind cousins, nieces, and nephews.
The family received visitors on Jan. 14 at Quigley Brothers Funeral Home in Cornwall-on-Hudson. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Thomas of Canterbury Church on Jan. 15, and was followed by interment in Calvary Cemetery in New Windsor.
