Ryan Allan Dearnaley

Ryan Allan Dearnaley died in Syracuse on Nov. 3 as the result of an accident. He was 27 and a resident of Fabius, N.Y.
The son of his loving parents Paul and Patricia Ryan Dearnaley, he was born in Poughkeepsie on Dec. 23, 1985. He was a 2004 graduate of Cornwall Central High School and a 2007 graduate of Morrisville College. He was employed as an auto technician with Gabe’s Auto Works.
Survivors include his loving parents Paul and Patricia; his son Thomas Ryan Dearnaley of Fayetteville, N.Y.; his brother Michael Dearnaley of Vancouver, Wash. and his sister Allison Dearnaley of Cornwall-on-Hudson, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
The family was due to receive visitors from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 7 at Quigley Brothers Funeral Home at 337 Hudson Street in Cornwall-on-Hudson. A funeral service was due to be held at the funeral home at 6:30 p.m.

Peter F. Fornal
March 17, 1919-November 3, 2013
Peter F. Fornal died on Nov. 3 at the New York State Veterans Home at Montrose. He was 94 and a resident of New Windsor.
The son of Charles and Mary Zaremski Fornal, he was born in New Windsor on March 17, 1919. He was married to the late Mary Jeanette Chum. Before retiring, he worked as an operating engineer with Local 825 in Newburgh.
He was a member of the Fleet Reserve at Stewart ANG.
Survivors include his daughters Mary Gail Faurot and her husband Tory of New Windsor and Linda Chisholm of New Windsor; his grandchildren Christopher Chisholm and wife Michele, Michael Chisholm and Melissa Meehan; and his great grandchildren Riley, Ian, Fiona and Michael Chisholm.
There will be no public visitation. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 13 at the Orange County Veterans Cemetery in Goshen.

Thomas J. Gayton Sr.
July 12, 1938-November 4, 2013
Thomas J. Gayton Sr. died at his home in New Windsor on Nov. 4. He was retired after serving as a teacher in the Monroe-Woodbury School District.
The son of William and Helen Gervais Gayton, he was born in Cornwall on July 12, 1938. He was a volunteer with Meals on Wheels and the GED Program with the Newburgh Free Library.
Survivors include his son Thomas J. Gayton Jr. and wife Mary Edna of Rock Tavern; his daughters Colette Gayton of New Windsor and Catherine Welsh and husband Danny of Rome, Ga.; his brothers William Gayton Jr. of Florida and Jack Gayton of Walden; his sister Dolores Knoerzer of Nags Head, N.C. and seven grandchildren.
There will be no public visitation. A celebration of Tom Gayton’s life will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 9 at 3 Cresthaven Drive in New Windsor.
Memorial contributions may be made to Meals on Wheels or the GED Program at the Newburgh Free Library.

Theodora Ginis
June 17, 1922-Nov. 1, 2013
Theodora Ginis of Cornwall-on-Hudson entered into rest on Friday, Nov. 1. She was 91.
The daughter of the late John and Erini Phillips, she was born in the Bronx on June 17, 1922.
Theodora was a retired billing clerk for J. Walter Thompson in New York City. She was a member of the American Bluejackets, Inc. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and she will be deeply missed.
Survivors include: daughter Irene Stathes and her companion Ron Kowalczyk of Maybrook; son James Ginis and wife Irene of Garden City, Long Island; grandchildren: Theodora Margolis and husband Michael, Christine Stathes and Andrew Stathes; and great-grandchildren, Anthony and Andrea Margolis. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Peter Ginis; her twin sister, Victoria Murphy; brother-in-law Alex Murphy; brothers George Phillips and James Phillips, and a granddaughter, Libby Ginis.
The family received visitors on Wednesday, Nov. 6 at James F. Lulves Funeral Home in Cornwall-on-Hudson. The Trisagion was held during visitation. Funeral Services were held on Thursday, Nov. 7 at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Newburgh, and were followed by interment in Cypress Hills Cemetery in Brooklyn.

Edward John V. Riley
August 11, 1922-October 21, 2013
Edward John V. Riley, an area resident for over 60 years, died on Oct. 21 at the age of 91.
He was a Maintenance Supervisor for Central Hudson at the Danskammer and Roseton Generating Stations, retiring after 37 years of service.
A World War II veteran of the U.S. Merchant Marine, he was a graduate of the Brooklyn Poly-Technical High School and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point as well as a commissioned officer in the US Naval Reserve. He held a Chief Engineer’s License. As a young man he joined the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCCs) and engaged in the organization’s firefighting, forestation and Hoover Dam construction efforts in the Pacific Northwest.
Ed Riley was a member of the Eugene De Long Chapter of the Merchant Marine Veteran’s Association, USMMAAA Mid-Hudson Chapter and the “Power House Gang” breakfast club.
He was a member of the Cornwall Yacht Club. In addition, he enjoyed numerous cross country camping trips with his wife Mildred. A dog lover, over time he had owned a Cocker Spaniel, Irish Setter, Rottweilers and a Bull Terrier.
One of seven children of Joseph Patrick Riley and Ruth Ella Smillie, he was born in Brooklyn on Aug. 11, 1922.
He was predeceased by his wife of 68 years, Mildred Maeder, in May 2012. He is survived by his daughter, Deborah, and her husband, Joseph Mangan of Bearsville, NY; son, Edward Joseph Riley, and his wife, Debra, of Cornwall; four grandchildren; Katie Siobhan and Daniel Mangan and Eamon and Amelia Riley. Eddie’s sister, Ruth, and brother, Joseph survive him, as well as multiple nieces and nephews.
A family service and gathering will be held at a later date. Internment will be at the Green-Wood Cemetery, in Brooklyn.

Martha Prizzia Waye
April 12, 1931-November 2, 2013
Martha Prizzia Waye died at Westchester Medical Center in Mount Pleasant on Nov. 2. She was 82 and a resident of Cornwall.
The daughter of John and Mary Vetrano Prizzia, she was born in Marlboro on April 12, 1931. She was married to Richard (Rick) Waye, and was retired after working as a legal secretary with Jerald Fiedelholtz Law Office in New Windsor. She was a graduate of Marlboro High School and Krissler Business Institute. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America Court Rita #264.
Survivors include her husband Richard Waye at home; her daughter Mary Graziano and husband Michael of Washingtonville; her sons Richard P. Waye of Newtown, Pa. and Thomas Waye and his wife Judi of Cornwall; her daughter Ruth Grzybowski and her husband Eugene; her sisters Geraldine Mandia and her husband Peter of North Carolina and sister-in-law Dorothy Prizzia of Marlboro. She was survived by 11 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her brothers Lt. Thomas Prizzia, Charles Prizzia and John J. Prizzia.
Her family said that “Martha will be remembered for her loving, caring and compasionate heart. She truly enjoyed her family, friends, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was the most beautiful mother and grandmother. She will be truly missed by all who knew her.”
The family received visitors on Nov. 5 at Quigley Brothers Funeral Home in Cornwall-on-Hudson. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Nov. 6 at St. Thomas of Canterbury Church in Cornwall-on-Hudson, and was followed by burial in Orange County Veterans Cemetery in Goshen.

Mark (Duck Man) Weinberger

Mark (Duck Man) Weinberger died on Oct.3 at St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital in Newburgh. He was 59 and a resident of Cornwall for 40 years.
The son of Jack Weinberger and Roberta Traub, he was born in the Bronx on July 14, 1954. He was a life member of the Cornwall Volunteer Ambulance Corps, and a Friend of Bill W. He is survived by a brother.
A time of reflection was due to be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 7 at Quigley Brothers Funeral Home at 337 Hudson Street in Cornwall-on-Hudson.
