Sen. Bill Larkin and Assemblyman James Skoufis will moderate a hearing on the hospital request to make the Cornwall Emergency Room a part-time facility.
The event will take place at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 12 in the middle school auditorium. The public is welcome, and the legislators are inviting:
-spokespeople from the hospital
-a representative from the Department of Health, and
-municipal officials from the towns and villages affected by the change
The meeting will start with the legislators’ financial panel reporting on the documents they have reviewed.
Then the public will have am opportunity to raise questions or state opinions. Each speaker will be asked to limit his or her comments to three minutes.
The hospital has asked the state for permission to close the Cornwall Emergency Department from 10 p.m. to 10 a.m. During these hours, ambulances and patients would be diverted to Newburgh.
