“A box of rain will ease the pain and love will see you thru.” Robert Hunter of the Grateful Dead.
Christopher Ryan Eastabrooks was a whole hearted kind soul who found fulfillment in the solitude, beauty and peacefulness of the Great Outdoors. This love took him hiking, camping, fishing and skiing from the Canadian Rockies to the shores of the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic Ocean from Florida to Maine.
He was born on Apr. 5,. 1983 and died on Sept. 1, 2013. He was a loyal and loving son, brother, grandson, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend. We will miss Chris. Take solace that his memory will live within us and give us peace and strength. Though his life was short he lived it to the fullest.
Chris is survived by his loving parents David Sr. and Gerry (McAfee) formerly of Cornwall, loving sister Amber, big brother David Jr., nephews Michael and Jacob, grandmothers Peggy Wilson of Cornwall-on-Hudson and Barbara McAfee formerly of Washingtonville, and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
A celebration of Christopher’s life was held at his parents’ home in Centerville, Ohio.
“Fare you well, fare you well, I love you more than words can tell, listen to the river sing sweet songs, to rock my soul.” Jerry Garcia of the Grateful Dead.
Robert Andrew Hulihan Jr.
September 9, 1955-August 15, 2013
One sunny morning this fall, Carol Skalanga Hulihan will throw her husband, Bob Hulihan, off a Bear Mountain bridge. His final resting place in the verdant Hudson Valley that he loved so well, his ashes flung by the woman who stole his heart 33 years ago when they were students at S.U.N.Y New Paltz.
A hydro-geologist by profession, an outdoorsman by inclination, and a curmudgeon by nature, Robert Andrew Hulihan, Jr., as he was formally known, died on Aug. 15 from complications of non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. He was 57-years-old.
Born Sept. 9, 1955, Bob grew up in Highland Mills, and graduated from Cornwall, where he was a home run slugger for the baseball team. A member of the still-close class of 1973, he made the 40th reunion in July, despite the ravages of his treatment at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Hospital. He was a 1981 graduate of S.U.N.Y New Paltz.
His wife, Carol, meant the world to Bob. He took enormous pride in his work as a senior geologist, evaluating the clean up of numerous toxic chemical pollutions in New York’s ground and waterways.
His professional career was spent primarily at two companies, Environmental Products & Services, Inc., and Miller Environmental Group, Inc.
His father, Dr. Robert A. Hulihan, a sister Barbara Zeiber, as well as brothers Robin and Thomas Hulihan predeceased him.
In addition to his wife and son, his mother Marjorie VanDerKar Hulihan, sister Deborah M. Hulihan both of Lincoln, Mass.; sisters Maile Hulihan of Sudbury, Mass., and Marjorie Hulihan-Meade of Sandy, OR; brother Timothy Hulihan of Oakland, CA and several nieces and nephews survive Bob. His lovey dog, Masie, and crazy cat, Hunter, also survive him.
A donation to help with his family expenses would be appreciated. Mail condolences to 6 Mine Hill Rd., Cornwall, N.Y. 12518
