Walter (Trey) Sands III
April 14, 1962-July 29, 2013
As the result of an accident, Walter (Trey) Sands III of Millwood died at Westchester Medical Center on July 29. He was 51 and a former resident of Cornwall.
The son of Walter J. Sands Jr. and Brenda Hoare Sands, he was born in LaJolla, Calif. on April 14, 1962. He loved rock climbing, hiking and the Yankees. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1980 to 1984, and later worked in communications for Cable Vision in Yonkers.
Survivors include his parents of Cornwall; his sister Brenda Maurer and her husband Max of Gardiner, N.Y.; his nephew and niece Jonathan and Elizabeth Maurer.
The family received visitors on July 31 at Quigley Brothers Funeral Home in Cornwall-on-Hudson. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Thomas of Canterbury Church on the same day, and was followed by burial in St. Thomas Cemetery.

Douglas (Doug) Watson
June 16, 1939-July 24, 2013
Douglas Watson of Cornwall-on-Hudson entered into rest on July 24 at the Kaplan Family Hospice Residence in Newburgh with his wife at his side, after a long battle with cancer.
The son of the late William and Mary (Simpson) Watson, he was born June 16, 1939 in Teaneck, N.J. After graduating from Haverstraw High School, he served in the Air Force for four years and had over 4000 hours of flight time.
After military service he worked for Standard Oil and Ford Motor Co., then established a home delivery milk business, Brookside Farms and also owned a bar and restaurant in West Haverstraw. Doug joined Orange and Rockland Utilities in 1973 and worked 40 years with the utility.
Doug was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was a sincere, honest and kind person and every bit a gentleman and will be missed by those who knew him.
Douglas is survived by his wife of 26 years, Nancy McDonald, at home and his daughter, Cheryl Davis of Monroe, her fiance’ Pete Chletsos, his sons, Scott Watson and wife Sue of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Kevin Watson and his wife Donna of Highland Mills and step daughter Winifred Lockie and her husband Martin of Cold Spring. Also surviving are his grandchildren Kevin Davis, Scott, Daniel, Kevin, Jocelyn and Jordan Watson, and nieces. Doug was predeceased by his brothers William and Wallace and his sister Barbara Jean.
The family received visitors on July 26 at Smith, Seaman & Quackenbush, Inc. Funeral Home in Highland Mills, NY. Cremation took place at Cedar Hill Crematory in Middle Hope. Interment of cremains will be private and at the convenience of his family.
