Grace Congdon Kerr

January 23, 1927-July 4, 2013

Long-time resident of Croton-on-Hudson, devoted parishioner of the Asbury Methodist Church, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and genuine friend to many, Grace Congdon Kerr passed gently from this world July 4 during a family vacation on Cape Cod, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Grace was the mother and mother-in-law of James and Carmen Kerr who live in Cornwall with their children Tomas, Olivia and Julia

Born on January 23, 1927 ,Grace married her beloved husband, Jim, in 1950.  They moved to Croton in 1962 where they raised their five children, who survive her – Virginia Henderson, Elizabeth Nelson, Robert, James of Cornwall,  and John Kerr;  along with their spouses,  thirteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Jim preceded Grace in 1998, but Grace’s commitment to the village, to her church, to her friends, and to her family continued in big and small ways.

Visitation hours have been arranged at the Edward Carter Funeral Home in Croton on Friday July 19 for 3-5 p.m. and again from 7-9 p.m.  Memorial service will be held at Asbury Methodist Church on Saturday July 20 at 11 a.m.  In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Asbury Methodist Church, 19 Old Post Road South, Croton-on-Hudson, NY 10520.
