Caroline Staudle became the 51st winner of the Butch Kent Memorial Award when she received the trophy and a scholarship check on June 17. The Kent Award is the highest honor given to a graduating Cornwall athlete.
Until his death last summer, Jimmy Kent would present the award that was named for his father. This year John Carnright (Jimmy’s life-long friend) made the presentation at the class-night picnic.
Mr. Carnright read a brief summary of the Kent family involvement in local sports. And then Mr. Chris Miller, Caroline’s basketball coach, explained why she was a worthy recipient.
Caroline played varsity softball as a freshman and sophomore, and was a four-year member of the varsity soccer and basketball teams.
