Elsie H. Stenglein of Washingtonville, NY, died Monday, April 15, 2013, in Newburgh. She was 79.
The daughter of the late Stanley and Anna Lukacik Kraiza, she was born July 31, 1933 in Salisbury Mills New York.
She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary Salisbury Mills Fire Co
“Elsie shone most when among family: happiest when celebrating holidays together, always willing to babysit the little ones and never forgetting a birthday,” her family said. “Her presence, spirit and the thoughtful traditions she initiated over the years will be sorely missed.”
Survivors include her sons Alan Stenglein of Ft. Collins, Col.; Kenneth Stenglein and wife Marie of Cornwall; Randy Stenglein and wife Kelly of Palmdale, Calif.; Timothy Stenglein of Floyd, N.Y.; and Jeffery Stenglein of New Windsor. Her grandchildren; Tiffany Hopkins, Stephanie Stenglein, Erin Stenglein, Tara Lyle, Kasey Stenglein, Shelly Stenglein and Andrew Stenglein; her great-grandchildren; Noah, Hannah, Alexander; her sisters Nancy Schrader of Salisbury Mills, Jane Myers and husband Steve of Lititz, Penn.; Judy Hicks and husband Dan of Easley, S.C.; her brother Carl Kraiza and wife Joyce of Anniston, Ala.; and nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her brother-in-law Ed Schrader, and her sisters Elizabeth and Barbara.
Services were private at the convenience of the family, and were followed by cremation in Cedar Hill Crematory in Newburgh.

Ronald Sheehan, Sr., a lifelong resident of Newburgh, passed away on April 23. He was 82.
Ronald was the son of the late Joseph and Mildred Sheehan of Cornwall. He was married to his childhood sweetheart, the late Barbara Shorter-Sheehan of Newburgh.
Survivors include four children; Ronald P. Sheehan, Jr. and wife Barbara Jean of Cornwall, Ross Sheehan and wife Mari of Newburgh, daughter Alice Munger and partner Rodney Ticehurst of Newburgh, and Reed Sheehan of Newburgh; one brother, Joseph Sheehan and wife Barbara and sister Patricia Spina and husband Patrick of Lake Luzerne, NY.
Ronald had nine grandchildren; Suzanne, Michelle, Jennifer, Kathleen, Ross Jr., Brittany, Tiffany, Zachary, Alexis; 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson.
He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. His greatest joys were spending time with his family and most of all, fishing and bowling with his sons.
Ronald was a retired employee of Kornish Distributors of Middletown.
