Peter L. Ransom

Peter L. Ransom of Murells Inlet, S.C. passed on March 4 in Myrtle Beach. He was 88 and a former resident of Cornwall.
The son of Peter and Mary Lyn Ransom, he was born in Wysox, Penn. on Dec. 9, 1924. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II, and was the Superintendent of Buildings and Grounds for the Town of Cornwall until his retirement in 1991.
He also worked tirelessly for Cornwall Little League from 1960 to 1983. His family said that he was a loving father, grandfather, brother and friend.
Survivors include his wife Beatrice Schofield Ransom at home; his sons Gregory Ransom and wife Lori of Cornwall-on-Hudson and Lee Ransom of Boynton Beach, Fla.; and his grandchildren Sara Ransom, Paige Ransom and Candace Ransom.
He was predeceased by his first wife Eleanor Coutant Ransom, who passed in 1980.
The family will not be receiving visitors. There will be a graveside service at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 9 at Woodlawn Cemetery, which will be followed by an 11 a.m. celebration of Peter’s life at the Cornwall Presbyterian Church at 222 Hudson Street in Cornwall-on-Hudson. Pastor Patricia Calahan will be officiating.
