Christine (“Christie”) Castellano
September 17, 1952-January 10, 2013
Christine (“Christie”) Castellano died in Atlantis, Fla. on Jan. 10.
She was born Sept. 17, 1952 to Col. Anthony (Ace) Castellano (who predeceased her in 2004) and Helen Castellano. She is survived by her mother Helen, her extended family of DeJuan, Philip, Ian and Christine Cork and many cousins.
Christie grew up in Cornwall-on-Hudson, where her father served as Commandant and Superintendent of New York Military Academy. She graduated from Cornwall Central High School in 1970 and the University of Miami in 1977, where she served as Chapter President of the Alpha Chi Chapter of Delta, Delta, Delta Sorority. Following her graduation from Barry University in 1980 with a Master’s of Social Work, Christie had a distinguished career as an advocate for children and families with serious emotional problems, including for the past 10 years at the Ruth Owens Kruse Educational Center in Miami, Fla. Christie also taught for over 15 years as an adjunct professor at both Barry University and Florida International University. Christie was also involved with many professional associations including the National Association of Social Workers, holding various offices on a state and local level and received recognition in 2002 as the Miami-Dade County Public School Social Worker of the Year.

Michael George Lug
May 4, 1948-January 12, 2013
Michael George Lug of Cornwall passed away at home on Saturday, Jan. 12, surrounded by his family and friends. He was 64 years old.
The son of the late George Franklyn Lug and Barbara Ann Mueller, he was born on May 4, 1948 in Cornwall. NY.
Mike graduated from St. Thomas School in Cornwall in 1962, Cornwall Central High School in 1966 and Marist College in 1970, after which he taught math and science at Sacred Heart School in Newburgh. He spent the rest of his career at Cornwall Central Middle School, teaching math and computers. Mike also graduated from Orange County Police Academy in 1989 and was a part-time police officer in Cornwall-on-Hudson and Marlboro and a court officer for Marlboro. He was a certified NYS DCJS OPS Instructor/Evaluator and a TASER International instructor.
Over the years Mike was active in Little League, Boy Scout Troop 17 of Newburgh and Troop 258 of Cornwall; he was a dispatcher for the New Windsor Police Department and also a member of the New Windsor Police Auxiliary.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years Jeanne Marquis, sons Jeremy (Jean) and Matthew (Janis Kenderdine), grandsons James and Andrew, brothers Raymond (Teresa) and George (Helen), aunt Anna LaRusso, nieces, nephew, and many cousins.
The family received visitors on Wednesday, Jan. 16 at Quigley Brothers Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Thursday, Jan. 17 at St. Thomas of Canterbury Church in Cornwall-on-Hudson. It was followed by burial in St. Thomas Cemetery in Cornwall.

Patricia (Deans) Malarkey
February 6, 1950-December 12, 2012
Patricia (Deans) Malarkey passed away unexpectedly in Royal Palm Beach, Fla. on Dec. 12. She had been born in Cornwall on Feb. 6, 1950.
She is survived by her husband Lawrence P. Malarkey, her daughter Deborah J. (Malarkey) Hunt, her son-in-law Scott Hart, her mother-in-law Kathrine Malarkey, her brothers Floyd B. Deans Jr., Donald L. Deans Sr. (and his wife Deborah), aunts, uncles and many cousins.
She was predeceased by her father Floyd B. Deans Sr., her mother Edith A, (Gibbons) Deans, her brother Thomas J. Deans, nephew Donald L. Deans, Jr. and father-in-law John (“Jack”) Malarkey.
She will be remembered as a dedicated wife, mother, sister, daughter-in-law, niece and friend.
The family did not receive visitors.
Frances T. Milich
March 24, 1914-January 9, 2013
Frances T. Milich died at Kaplan Family Hospice in Newburgh on Jan. 9. She was 98 and a resident of Cornwall-on-Hudson.
The daughter of Dominick and Teresa Santagata Foti, she was born in New York City on March 24, 1914. She was married to the late Joseph R. Milich, who passed away. Before retiring, she was a supervisor with the Cadet Store at the United States Military Academy at West Point.
She was a member of St. Thomas of Canterbury Church, serving with the Altar Society and Catholic Daughters of America Court Rita #264. She was a Cornwall Hospital volunteer and, in her retirement, she was a member of the Sicilian Club in Florida.
Survivors include her daughter Mary Ann McCarthy and her husband Gary of Cornwall-on-Hudson; a brother Salvatore Foti and his wife Marianna of Newburgh; a grandchild Michelle Brennan and her husband Philip, three great grandchildren: Jackson, Lilian and Nathan Brennan; her sisters-in-law Mary and Marie Foti; and many nieces, nephews, great grand nieces and great grand nephews.
She was predeceased by her brothers Joseph, Angelo and Nicholas Foti; her sister Mary Gizzarelli and her sister-in-law Margaret Foti.
The family received visitors on Jan. 11 at Quigley Brothers Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Saturday, Jan. 12 at St. Thomas of Canterbury Church in Cornwall-on-Hudson and was followed by burial in St. Thomas Cemetery in Cornwall.

Porter Hilliard Warren, MD
September 6, 1924-January 12, 2013
Porter Hilliard Warren, MD, died on Jan. 12 at his home in Cornwall. He was 88.
He was born on Sept. 6, 1924 in Greenville, Ala. to Porter Hilliard and Effie Belle Warren.
After graduating from high school in 1941, he joined the US Army Air Forces where he was trained as a pilot and became an instructor. He later served in the Pacific Theatre. After the war, he attended Tulane University and Tulane Medical School and graduated from Medical School in 1952.
He began his medical career as a general practitioner in Cornwall. Later, he studied psychiatry at the New York Psychoanalytic Society. He worked as a psychiatrist and served as head of Psychiatry at the Westchester Division of Cornell Medical School at New York Hospital from 1961 until 1976. After that, he returned to private practice in Cornwall, working actively until age 84.
Porter married Anne Bryan-Turner in 1949 and they were happily married for 64 years.
Porter served on the Vestry and was a Senior Warden at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Cornwall. He was a board member of the National Alliance on Mental Illness and a board member of Planned Parenthood of Orange County. He was a musician, avid sailor, and student of philosophy.
Porter was preceded in death by his parents, his sons, Bryan Hilliard and Phillip Hilliard, and his son-in-law, Leland Gene Avery.
Porter is survived by his spouse, Anne; two daughters, Dorothy (Ron) Terry of Cazenovia, N.Y. and Pamela (Peter Lawrence) Warren of Lexington, Mass.; his son, Edward (Carla Castillo)Warren, of Philadelphia; and five grandchildren, Andrew, Jane, Claire, Turner and García.
A funeral was held at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Cornwall on Jan. 16 and was followed by burial at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Mountainville.
