Olga Marie Belmont
February 27, 1924-January 5, 2013
Olga Marie Belmont, 88, a retired West Point employee and long-time resident of Cornwall-on-Hudson, died on Jan. 5 at Elant at Meadow Hill Nursing Home in Newburgh.
Olga was born on Feb. 27, 1924 in Gross Raden, Czechoslovakia to Josef Hanel and Olga (Stenke) Hanel. She came to the United States in 1952, and received her U.S. citizenship in 1955, in Buffalo. As a military wife, she lived overseas in France and Germany, and stateside in Virginia and South Dakota, before settling in Cornwall-on-Hudson in 1969.
Survivors include her husband, Lawrence P. Belmont (Retired U.S. Air Force), of Cornwall-on-Hudson; a son, Larry M. Belmont, of Blue Point, N.Y.; and a sister, Herta Hanel, of Künzelsau, Germany. She was predeceased by her parents; a sister, Grete Schebeske; and five brothers, Alfred, Bruno, Josef, Rudolf, and Walter.
There was no public visitation.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Tuesday, Jan. 8, at St. Thomas of Canterbury Church. Burial took place in St. Thomas Cemetery in Cornwall.

Lawrence (Larry) Scally

Lawrence (Larry) Scally of Cornwall entered into rest on Jan. 2. He passed away in his sleep. Larry was born in Farmingdale, Long Island on May 2, 1923. He lived in New York City and Irvington, New York before retiring to Cornwall in 1993.
Larry was predeceased by his loving wife of 60 years, Grace (née Donovan). He is survived by daughter, Helen Velez and husband Skip of Cornwall; son Larry and wife Theresa of Cortland Manor; daughter Patti Nicoletti and husband Jim of Lynbrook; son Brian and wife Marguerite of Irvington, and brother Walter and wife Helen of Midlothian, Va.
Larry was a loving grandfather to his 10 grandchildren: Jason, Kristen, Lauren, Kyra, Jack, Kate, Emma, Brian, Connor, and Meegan and six great grand children. He was a proud World War II veteran having served on the USS Quincy cruiser in both the Atlantic and Pacific theaters.
The family received visitors on Jan. 6 at Quigley Bros. Funeral Home, 337 Hudson St. Cornwall-On-Hudson. A funeral mass was held on Jan. 7 at St. Thomas of Canterbury Church. Burial took place in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
