Joan Veronica Lecce

Joan Veronica Lecce died on Dec. 30 at the Newburgh campus of St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital. She was 81 and a resident of Cornwall.
The daughter of Joseph and Theresa Donovan Kelly, she was born on Dec. 7, 1931 in Brooklyn. She was married to the late Angelo Lecce, who passed away on April 27, 1982. She was retired after working as welder with Lightron Co. in New Windsor.
Survivors include her daughter Felicia Ann Lecce of Cold Spring; her nieces and nephews : Tullio Tarallo (Cathy), Phillip Tarallo (Sandy), Roseann Coakley, Carol Jean Russo (Sam), Kathy Cita (Dominick), Joan Tarallo (William), Theresa Riddle (Bob), Kim Farrier, Terry Arteberry (Jay), Wayne Kelly, Denise Brown (Ken). Sister-in-law Ellen Kelly and a number of great nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, her parents, her brothers Gerard and Joseph (Buddy) Kelly and her sisters Maryellen Kelly and Ann Green.
Her family received visitors on Thursday, Jan. 3 at Quigley Brothers Funeral Home, 337 Hudson Street, Cornwall-on-Hudson.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 4 at St. Thomas of Canrterbury Church, 340 Hudson Street in Cornwall-on-Hudson. Burial will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery in Cornwall.

Marian T. McGhee
February 24, 1920-December 29, 2012
Marian T. McGhee of New Windsor, NY entered into rest on Saturday, Dec. 29. She was 92.
The daughter of the late George and Sarah Davenport Tice, she was born on Feb. 24, 1920 in Cornwall.
Although Marian had many jobs during her lifetime, her favorite was working at Mid-Hudson Oxygen Co. How she loved going to work there everyday! The Schaffer family always made her feel like a part of their family.
“Mom will always be loved and remembered as a strong, independent woman who always put her family first,” her family said.
Survivors include: daughters Bonnie Neucall and Elizabeth (Betty) Fodrowski and husband Ed: grandchildren; Kimberly Neucall, Angel Bunting, Joseph (Jay) Neucall, Jr. and wife Gwen, Tracy Fierro and Nikki Fierro: six great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Arthur McGhee, infant sister Eva Viola Tice, and two sons-in-law; Carl Fierro and Joseph Neucall.
Visitation will be held on Friday, Jan. 4, 2013 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at James F. Lulves Funeral Home, 9 Avenue A, Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 5 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Earl “The Pearl” Pfeffer

Earl Vernon Pfeffer, formerly of Highland Falls, passed away on Dec. 19 at the Dayton Ohio Veterans Hospital. He was born on May 2, 1926, in Smithville, Texas to Ernest and Ella Pfeffer, who later moved to Houston.
Earl was a retired World War II paratrooper who traveled as far as France, Germany, and Japan. While stationed in West Point he met his bride, Betty Paultnavage, of Highland Falls, who was working in the Pickwik and later on in the Ben Franklin store for at least 30 years. On Dec. 25, 1947, they were married.
As a young man, Earl attended the University of Houston for T.V. and radio. He was always a bit of a “Jack of all Trades.” There really wasn’t anything he couldn’t fix. He was also a locksmith and a construction worker. He also worked with his son, Ernie, at the Cornwall Press in the late 1960s and Lightron.
He is survived by his wife Betty of 65 years, their three children, seven grand children and five great grandchildren. The oldest son, Ernie and his wife Fran and their three children: Gina Startup and her daughter Brittany, Nicole and her husband Rick Mueller and their son Jonah, Ray and his wife Carla Startup. The second oldest, his daughter Susan Maynard and her two sons: Garren and his wife Malia Maynard and their three children Kylie, Declan, and Brannon; and her younger son Bryan Maynard. The youngest child, Brenda and her husband Paul Florio and their two daughters Jennifer and Kimberly.
The family received visitors on Sunday, Dec. 30. A service was held on Monday, Dec. 31 at William F. Hogan Funeral Home. Burial was at Eagle Valley Cemetery, in the Town of Highlands.
