Scouts’ Silver project addresses teen pregnancy

According to the Center for Disease Control, three out of 10 American girls will get pregnant at least once before they are 20. Each year about 750,000 teens get pregnant. Approximately 330,000 of those pregnancies end in abortion, 170,000 in miscarriage and 250,000 are carried to term.

On Oct. 22 members of COVAC will be helping a helper. Jack Boyle, a life member of the ambulance corps, has assisted others as a volunteer and as an EMS captain with the New York City Fire Department. After the World Trade Center attacks, he worked for 50 days at Ground Zero.

Sugar Smacks lured dean to West Point

On June 24, Cindy Jebb was promoted to brigadier general and officially confirmed as the new Dean of the Academic Board at the United States Military Academy. Jebb, an 11-year resident of Cornwall before moving to West Point, is the 14th person to hold the position and the first female to do so. President Barack Obama nominated her for the position, making the announcement in May.
