Black Rock Forest adds to preserve

The Open Space Institute recently teamed up with Black Rock Forest and the Orange County Land Trust for another land grab as part of an effort to connect and create contiguous pathways between large swaths of protected land so wildlife can roam freely and have a higher chance of surviving in an area which is heavily developed.

Accident quells Quaker traffic

Emergency personnel responded to an accident shortly after 3 p.m. on Quaker Avenue near the 9W ramp. Cornwall Fire Department volunteers disabled the vehicles while EMTs from Cornwall Volunteer Ambulance Corps and New Windsor Ambulance Corps tended to two females.

Neighbor couldn’t stand it any more

Suki Chen is still trying to bring her nieces to the United States. The girls ages 4, 7 and 11 have been living as orphans in China since their mother and grandmother were killed in accidents last summer. Their father remains in a coma in a hospital several hours away.

Arbor Day observance

The Cornwall Conservation Advisory Council and the Town of Cornwall will be planting a Scarlet Oak tree on the grounds of Sands Ring Homestead on April 21 at 4 p.m. as part of the Town’s annual observance of Arbor Day.
