The driver was conscious and breathing after this accident on Mineral Springs Road this morning. The Cornwall Fire Department, Police Department and COVAC all reported to the scene.

One-car accident on Broadway

A crash brought Broadway residents out of their home this morning. They thought it might be a hit-and-run accident, but as soon as they got outside, they could see what happened.

Route 32 is expected to be closed for up to four hours, according to the Department of Transportation. At approximately 2:30 p.m., a two-vehicle accident shut down the state road, in both directions, near Ardmore Street.

Accident quells Quaker traffic

Emergency personnel responded to an accident shortly after 3 p.m. on Quaker Avenue near the 9W ramp. Cornwall Fire Department volunteers disabled the vehicles while EMTs from Cornwall Volunteer Ambulance Corps and New Windsor Ambulance Corps tended to two females.

Ambulance corps honors its life savers & others

An average employee works 2,000 hours a year. The ambulance corps had a pair of members who spent more time than that volunteering. They were among the people that COVAC recognized during its annual Installation and Awards Dinner.

Boyle, witch hats and news bites

On Oct. 22 members of COVAC will be helping a helper. Jack Boyle, a life member of the ambulance corps, has assisted others as a volunteer and as an EMS captain with the New York City Fire Department. After the World Trade Center attacks, he worked for 50 days at Ground Zero.

Cooling center open
