Chrystle Anderson

November 25, 1940 – October 29, 2017

Chrystle M. Bonebrake Anderson, 76, wife of Howard “Andy” J. Anderson, of Summerville, SC passed away Sunday, Oct. 29.

Chrystle was born Nov. 25, 1940 in Cornwall, a daughter of Daniel Bonebrake and Marion Miller Bonebrake. She was raised in Highland Falls, where she graduated in 1958 from Highland Falls High School. After holding several positions throughout the 1960s, Chrystle married CWO Howard J. Anderson while at the University of Illinois/Urbana. She spent the next decade travelling the world with her husband, ending in Summerville, SC, where she chose to spend the rest of her life.

Survivors include her husband, Howard J. Anderson; daughter Karen Lynn Valadez (JR) of Oak Hill, VA; son, Anthony Allen Kuklinski of Elizabethtown, Ky.; sister Linda Bonebrake of Gloversville, NY;  brother George Brandreth (Carmen) of Battleground, Wash.; eight grandchildren, Whitney, Madison and Taylor Kuklinski, Ashley Thomas, Scott Matejka, Amber Vargo, Gary and Mary Hart; eight great-grandchildren; three nephews, four nephews, Mark, Mike, John and Nick; and four  nieces, Melissa, Sarah, Kristian and Tiffany.

Chrystle was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel and Marion Bonebrake; grandmother Chrystle Mary Garlock and her stepdaughter, Valerie Jean Graves.

Memorial services will be held Friday, Nov. 3 at Parks Funeral Home Chapel at 2 p.m. Burial will be held at a later date in Hagerstown, Md. Flowers will be accepted.

Barbara A. Conklin

February 20, 1940-October 26, 2017

New Windsor

Barbara A. Conklin, of New Windsor entered into eternal rest surrounded by her loving family on Oct. 26 at Nyack Hospital.  She was 77 years old.

The daughter of the late Eugene Roth and Sophie (Winters) Roth, Barbara was born on Feb. 20, 1940 in Nyack, NY.  She was a retired Bookkeeper for Elmhurst Dairy in Nanuet.

It would be easy at a moment like this to focus on all that we lost along with future time that won’t be spent with a warm, engaging, tenacious woman whose curiosity and enthusiasm for life knew no bounds. However, we choose to focus on the time we were given to be with this remarkable woman as a loving wife, mother, mother-in-law and grandmother. We appreciate and value the time we had knowing we will meet again but until such time she will be missed greatly.

Barbara is survived by her loving husband, Herbert G. Conklin; her son: Bryan H. Conklin and his wife Nancy of Webster, N.Y.; her daughters: Kim B. (Conklin) Marshall and her husband Daniel of Cornwall and Melissa J. (Conklin) Taylor and her husband Robert of Circleville; her grandchildren Nicole Clavell and her husband Michael, Carly Marshall; and her brothers: Richard Roth of Tuxedo and Chester Roth of Jensen Beach, Fla.

Her family received visitors. on Oct. 29 at Quigley Bros. Funeral Home in Cornwall-on-Hudson. Cremation took place at Cedar Hill Crematory in Middle Hope. Inurnment of her cremains will be in Cemetery of the Highlands in Highland Mills at the convenience of the family.

The family requests memorial contributions in Barbara’s name be made to Hospice of Orange & Sullivan Counties, 800 Stony Brook Court, Newburgh, NY 12550.

Hugh Bernard Gavin

March 30, 1943-September 30, 2017

former Cornwall teacher

Hugh Bernard Gavin, 74, of Charlotte, N.C., formerly of Tarrytown,  passed away Saturday, Sept. 30.

Born on March 30, 1943 in Tarrytown, Hugh was the son of the late William and Marion (Nee) Gavin. Educated at Manhattan College in New York, Mr. Gavin earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in 1965 and went on to earn his master’s degree at SUNY New Paltz.

He taught at St. Teresa Catholic Grammar School in Sleepy Hollow, before teaching at Cornwall Middle School.  Following his retirement, Mr. Gavin and his wife Cookie moved to Indian Trail, N.C.  They were members of St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Charlotte.

Besides his parents, Mr. Gavin was preceded in death by his brother Bill Gavin, Jr.  Survivors include his loving wife  “Cookie”  Leona M Gavin; children Chris (Marjorie) Gavin, Vicki (Brendan) Ciganek, Tim (Joy) Gavin and Joe (Rachel) Gavin.  Also surviving are his grandchildren Gavin Ciganek, Bryson Gavin, Cooper and Colby Gavin, Jaeda, Silas and Caleb Gavin.

A memorial Mass will be held on Friday, Nov. 10 at 10:30 a.m. at the Transfiguration Church, Tarrytown.  Interment will take place in the Historic Sleepy Hollow Cemetery in Tarrytown.  Online condolences may be sent to www.carolinafuneral.com.

Patricia (“Patti”) A. Haley

January 6, 1964-October 25, 2017

Cornwall

Patti Haley, of Cornwall entered into eternal rest on Oct. 25 at her home. She was 53 years old.

The daughter of the late William Kisselburgh and Sophie (Schwinghammer) Kisselburgh, Patti was born on Jan. 6, 1964 in Albany, N.Y.

Patti earned an Associate’s Degree in nursing and was employed at Keller Army Community Hospital in West Point.

Patti is survived by her loving husband Robert J. Haley, Sr.; her sons: Robert, Jr., Joseph, Nicholas, Joshua and Christopher; her daughter: Elizabeth Clark; her grandchildren and her sister: Peggy Meunier.

Memorial visitation will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 4 at Quigley Bros. Funeral Home, 337 Hudson St. Cornwall-on-Hudson.  A Funeral Service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 4 at the funeral home.

Cremation took place at Cedar Hill Crematory in Middle Hope.
