Heather R. Bishop

December 21, 1975 – September 12, 2017

Highland Falls

Heather Rachael Bishop, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at The Kaplan Family Hospice Residence in Newburgh.  She was 41 years old.

The daughter of David and Kathleen Baggett Edmonds, she was born December 21, 1975 in Eureka, Calif.

Heather was an administrator for the support group Colontown on Facebook.  She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints of West Point, and worked with their Relief Society. Heather also worked with Ellie’s Elf’s of Fredericksburg, Va., a community outreach group.

Survivors include her loving husband, Jeremy Scott Bishop, at home, along with their five children, sons Curtis and Jacob, and daughters Aspen, Sarah and Cassondra; her parents David and Kathleen Edmonds at home in Eureka, Calif.; four brothers, Colin Edmonds of Eureka, Calif., Michael Edmonds of Eureka, Calif., Paul Edmonds of Salt Lake City, Utah and Sam Edmonds of Eureka, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service, officiated by Bishop Stacy Godshall was held on Saturday, September 23 at Old Cadet Chapel, Washington Road, West Point, NY.

Interment followed in Eagle Valley Cemetery in the Town of Highlands.

Jean K. DeCarlo

June 3, 1941 – September 23, 2017

Highland Falls

Jean K. DeCarlo passed away Saturday, September 23, 2017 at the Joe Raso Hospice Residence, in New City.  She was 76 years old.

Daughter of the late John P. Kelly and Dorothy A. Jones Kelly, she was born June 3, 1941 in Cornwall. Jean was loved by the entire community and known by all, from the window at Kopald and Kopald in Highland Falls where she worked as a secretary for 59 years.

Survivors include: son Robert R. DeCarlo Jr. and wife Eileen of Bohemia; daughter Kelly Blauvelt of Nanuet; grandchildren Kenny, Krista, Jillian, Patrick, Rocco, Erin and Kyle; and great grandchildren Aidan, Brianna and Madison.

She is predeceased by her husband Robert R. DeCarlo and her son Kenneth R. DeCarlo.

A funeral mass was held on Wednesday, September 27 at Sacred Heart Church, 353 Main St., Highland Falls.  Interment followed at Peacedale Cemetery in Highland Falls.

James P. Doonan

June 9, 1958 – September 16, 2017

Highland Falls

James P. Doonan passed away Saturday, Sept. 16 at St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital in Newburgh.  He was 59 years old.

Son of the late James and Joan Simmons McCullough, he was born June 9, 1958 in Mount Vernon. James was a technician with Farmer Brothers Coffee in Teterboro, NJ. He coached Highland Falls Little League and Town of Highlands Youth Football and Basketball.

Survivors include his loving wife, Susan G. McDonald Doonan, at home; sons James and John of Highland Falls; his brothers John of Walden, Joseph of Spring Valley and Jerome of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; his sisters Janice Merli of Myrtle Beach, SC, Julie Angueira of Sudbury, Mass., Jeanne Furchak of Chester and  Jacquelyn Betz of Cornwall; and several nieces and nephews.
James was predeceased by his sister Joanie Schmidt.

Cremation took place at Cedar Hill Crematory, Middle Hope.  A Graveside Service will be held at noon on Friday, September 29 in Eagle Valley Cemetery, Town of Highlands.

Mary A. Kelder

October 15, 1927-September 20, 2017

Formerly of Cornwall

Mary A. Kelder, 89, of  Cambridge, N.Y., a former longtime resident of Cornwall, entered into rest on Sept. 20 in the comfort of her home.

The daughter of the late Cyril and Margaret Conroy Yearwood, she was born on Oct. 15, 1927 in Montgomery, N.Y.

Mary was a 1947 graduate of Cornwall High School. She attended business school in Newburgh, earning a certificate.

After working as a stenographer at Firth Carpet Co., she assisted on the family farm on Sarah Wells Trail in Washingtonville. Mary later became a homemaker as well as a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

Mary was a member of St. Thomas of Canterbury Church and a member of  Catholic Daughters of America, Court Rita #264.

Survivors include her children: Margaret L. Kelder and spouse, Melissa Devine of Cambridge, N.Y.; Graham E. Kelder, Jr. and wife, Regina McEnery of Cambridge, Mass.; and Anne Barriel of New Paltz; grandchildren: Daniel Barriel and wife Carole, Joshua Barriel, Nathaniel Barriel and Rachel Barriel; several nieces, nephews and cousins, plus her dear friend, Patricia Pierce. She was predeceased by her husband, Graham E. Kelder, Sr., sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and Ralph Edwards, son-in-law William Barriel and nephew Ralph Edwards, III.

Her family received visitors on Sept. 25 at James F. Lulves Funeral Home in Cornwall-on-Hudson. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Sept. 26 at St. Thomas of Canterbury Church in Cornwall-on-Hudson and was followed by interment in St. Thomas Cemetery.

Susan Ann LaMothe

November 9, 1949-September 22, 2017

Formerly of Cornwall-on-Hudson

Susan Ann (Barnes) LaMothe age 67, of Tallahassee, Fla., formerly of Cornwall-on-Hudson, passed away peacefully on Sept. 22, at her home.

She is survived by her husband of  44 years, Gerard LaMothe, her children; Gerard LaMothe Jr. (Beth), Leigh Schrieber (Kurt) and Pete LaMothe, grandchildren; Abby, AJ, and Hailey LaMothe and Jack and Riley Schrieber.

Susan was a wonderful, loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She will be greatly missed by all.

Aria D. Liyari

June 1, 2017 – September 17, 2017

Redwood City, Calif.

Aria D. Liyari, daughter of Hooman Liyari and Bobbi-Jean Work Liyari passed away on Sept. 17 at home. She was 3 months old.

Aria was born on June 1, 2017 in Redwood City, Calif.

She is survived by her parents, Hooman & Bobbi-Jean Liyari and her twin sister, Brooklynn Liyari, of Foster City, Calif.; her paternal grandmother, Aki Liyari of Wake Forest, NC; her paternal grandfather Ramin Liyari of Fort Montgomery; and her maternal grandfather, Mark Work of New York, NY.
She was predeceased by her brother Aidan J. Liyari.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 28 at William F. Hogan Funeral Home, 135 Main St., Highland Falls. A funeral mass will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 28 at Sacred Heart Church, 353 Main St., Highland Falls. Interment will follow in Eagle Valley Cemetery, Town of the Highlands.

Benjamin Timothy Santoro

June 15, 1929-September 9, 2017

Formerly of Cornwall

Dr. Benjamin Timothy Santoro, a former resident of Cornwall, died at his home in South Chatham, Mass. on  Sept. 9. He was 88.

He is survived by his children Benjamin Jr. of Dover, Mass., Peter of Pensacola, Fla., Ian of Delmar, N.Y., Kip of South Natick, Mass., Jed of Littleton, Mass. and Kyle of Medway, Mass.; by their mother Marion Hebberd Santoro of Dover, Mass.; by his stepdaughters Natasha, Alexandra of Durham, N.C. and Janine of Richmond, Va.; and by 11 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Alysa Santoro and by his second wife Janine Cauhape Santoro.

Ben was born in Montgomery, N.Y. on June 15, 1929 to Benjamin Marco Santoro and Loretta McEvilly Santoro, He was predeceased by his siblings Gloria, William and James, and is survived by his sisters Natalie Ann and Sally.

After graduating from Storm King Preparatory School, Yale University and Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, he completed his residency at the University of Minnesota and Mass General Hospital. He moved to Dover, Mass with his family in 1961, where he soon established a private medical practice and later served for many years as Chief of Emergency Medicine at Leonard Morse Hospital in Natick. He retired in 1988.

A funeral Mass was held at the Church of the Most Precious Blood in Dover, Mass. on Sept. 14. Burial was in Highland Cemetery in Dover. Funeral arrangements were by George F. Doherty & Sons, 477 Washington St., Wellesley, Mass.
