Sandra Burnham

May 26, 1945-August 4, 2017

Formerly of Cornwall-on-Hudson

Sandra Burnham of Florham Park, N.J. passed away on Aug.4 at the age of 72. She was a former longtime resident of Cornwall-on-Hudson.

The daughter of the late Gus and Sally (Kanderas) Vlokas, she was born in Manhattan on May 26, 1945. She was a former social worker at the McQuade School in New Windsor.

She is survived by her son Jason M. Burnham of West New York, N.J. and her sister Anna Johnson of the Bronx.

The family received friends on Aug. 9 at the Quigley Bros. Funeral Home in Cornwall-on-Hudson. A funeral service was held on Aug. 10 at the St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Newburgh, and was followed by interment at St. Thomas Cemetery, Cornwall.

Memorial contributions may be made to the McQuade Children’s Foundation.

Edwina Delbaugh Gee

August 11, 1933 – August 3, 2017

Fort Montgomery

Edwina, known by all who loved her as Winnie, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, August 3, 2017.  She was 83 years old.

Born Edwina Mary Delbaugh on August 11, 1933 in Cornwall, she was the daughter of the late Edward M. and Margaret A. Ricker Delbaugh. A 1953 graduate of Highland Falls High School, Winnie married her high school sweetheart, Robert Gee, in 1954. Winnie retired from the Orange County Office of the Aging as director of The Town of Highlands Nutrition Center.

Winnie and Bob have three daughters: Barbara Murphy, Karen Diaz, and Robin (James) Spink.  Her pride and joys were her grandchildren: Erin (Dennis) Murphy-Sharrock, Thomas RG Murphy, Jason (Danielle) Diaz, Michelle Diaz, Robert (Jennifer) Spink, Jonathan Spink, Kaitlyn Spink, and her great-granddaughter Mackenzie Diaz.  Winnie is also survived by her brother Edward M. Delbaugh, Jr., and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her sister Joan Jarrett.

A Funeral Mass was celebrated on Tuesday, August 8 at Sacred Heart Church, Highland Falls.  Interment followed in Eagle Valley Cemetery in the Town of Highlands.

The family has asked for memorial donations in lieu of flowers to: Sacred Heart Church, 353 Main St. Highland Falls, NY 10928; Fort Montgomery Fire Dept., 865 Route 9W, Fort Montgomery, NY 10922; and Town Of Highlands Volunteer Ambulance Corps., PO Box 35, Highland Falls, NY 10928.

Eric L. Huber

April 25, 1946-July 29, 2017

Walden

Eric L. Huber, of Walden, entered into eternal rest on July 29 at The Kaplan Family Hospice Residence in Newburgh. He was 71 years old.

The son of the late Karl L. Huber and  Ella Mae (Purcell) Huber, Eric was born on April 25, 1946 in New York City.

He was a retired lieutenant with the Town of Cornwall Police Department.  He was also the Proprietor of Eric’s Barber Shop in Cornwall.

Eric is survived  by his wife, Nancy A. Huber of Media, Penn.; his daughters, Rhiannon Huber-Green and her husband Dan of Wallkill, Danielle Huber-Tiedemann and her husband Todd of Fishkill; grandchildren, Daniel, Jacob and Nicholas Green, Noah Tiedemann and soon-to-be Oliver G. Tiedemann; and a sister, Dawn Rahm of Modena.

Memorial visitation will be held from 12 to 3 p.m. and from 5 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 13 at Quigley Bros. Funeral Home, 337 Hudson St. Cornwall-on-Hudson.

Vincent S. Lavarna, Jr.

August 2, 2017

formerly of Highlands

Vincent S. Lavarna, Jr. who was born and raised in Highland Falls and Fort Montgomery, passed away on August 2, 2017 in Las Vegas, Nevada after a long illness.

Vincent was a 1961 graduate of Highland Falls High School. He served four years in the U.S. Army stationed in Germany. He was a patrolman for the Bear Mt. Palisades Parkway Police and retired as a New York State Trooper.

He is survived by his brother Joseph; daughters Mary, Elizabeth and Sara from Las Vegas Valley, Nevada, Jessica from the State of Washington, and son Christopher from Texas; and six grandchildren.
