J. O’Neill Kelly

J. O’Neil Kelly, died peacefully on Friday, Nov. 4 at Saratoga Hospital, with his loving family at his side.

A resident of Ballston Spa, N.Y. for the last 11 years, O’Neil was born in Washington, D.C., in 1936 and was a graduate of Archbishop Stepanac High School, Cornell University and Fordham Law School. Prior to moving to Ballston Spa, O’Neil resided in Cornwall, where he raised his family with his wife, the late Carol Dexter Kelly. He retired from Sichol & Hicks Law Firm in 2006. O’Neil enjoyed spending time with his family, bad jokes, magic, reading, classical music, horse racing, and crossword puzzles.

He is survived by his son David Kelly (Melissa) of Springfield, Va., his daughter Laurie Sickles (Matthew) of Ballston Spa, son Paul Kelly (Kathy) of Beacon, daughter-in-law Barbara Kelly of New Paltz, sister Ellen Kelly of Albuquerque, N.M., seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he is pre-deceased by his son Brian Kelly, granddaughter Hannah Kelly, his brother Peter Kelly and his parents Neil and Ruth Kelly.

A local Memorial Mass was celebrated on Monday, Nov. 7 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ballston Spa.

His family received visitors on Nov. 9 at Quigley Brothers Funeral Home in Cornwall-on-Hudson. Inurment took place at Cedar Hill Cemetery on Nov. 9.
