William F. Faller

July 15, 1941-August 30, 2016

William F. Faller, of Cornwall entered into eternal rest on Aug. 30 at his home. He was 75 years old.

The son of the late William Faller and Ethel Fountain Faller, William was born on July 15, 1941 in College Point, Queens, NY, where he spent most of his life.

William was retired from the New York City Department of Sanitation in Queens. He was a lifelong weight lifter and the most unforgettable character that everybody loved.

William is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Mary Louise Hickey Faller; his sons, James, John, George, and William; his daughters, Joyce, Mary and Margaret; 21 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; his sisters, Patty Ann and Ethel; a brother, Edward.  William was predeceased by his son, Joseph.

His family received visitors on Sept. 1 at Quigley Bros. Funeral Home in Cornwall-on-Hudson.  A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Sept. 2 at St. Thomas of Canterbury Church in Cornwall-on-Hudson and was followed by cremation at Cedar Hill Crematory in Middle Hope.

Rosalie Helen Iasso

December 20, 1925-September 2, 2016

Rosalie Helen Iasso, of Cornwall entered into eternal rest on Sept. 2 at St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital, in Newburgh, surrounded by her loving family. She was 90 years old.

The daughter of the late Peter and Josephine DeFresco, Rosalie was born in Brooklyn on Dec. 20, 1925. She was retired after working as an executive secretary for Home Title Insurance Company in New York City.

“Rosalie was an amazingly sweet woman, full of wisdom and grace.  Her primary concern was always the love and happiness of her children and grandchildren.  We will miss her greatly.”

Rosalie was predeceased by her loving husband, Modestino C. Iasso.  She is survived  by her daughter, Cecilia and her husband, Gary, of Cornwall; her sons, Karmin of Port Washington, N.Y. and Peter, and his wife, Joanne, of Port Jefferson, N.Y.; six grandchildren, Jerry, Samuel, Deanna, Joseph, William and Christine.

Her family will receive visitors from 5 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 9 at Quigley Bros. Funeral Home, 337 Hudson Street in Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at St. Joseph Church, 4 St. Joseph Place, New Windsor.  Interment will follow the Mass at Orange County Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Craigsville Road, Goshen, N.Y.

Memorial Contributions in Rosalie’s name may be made to the American Cancer Society, 121 Executive Drive #200, New Windsor, NY 12553.

Irene A. Reynolds

June 14, 1947-September 2, 2016

Irene A. Reynolds of Cornwall entered into rest on Friday, Sept. 2, surrounded by her loving family.  She was 69.

The daughter of the late Arthur and Bridget Herity Gildea, she was born on June 14, 1947 in the Bronx .

Irene worked for many years in the Cornwall Central School District.  She was adored by so many there and served as a mother to all.  She loved dancing, music, Mickey Mouse, the Yankees, chicken marsala and a natty Irishman.  She loved her home and being surrounded by such a wooded magical place.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.  She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and spoiling them with gifts and treats.  She loved all her many pets and treated them like gold.  She loved QVC and daily visits from her familiar UPS man.   She inspired many, fighting countless courageous battles and will be deeply missed.

Survivors include: her husband Frank, at home; daughter, Christine Reynolds-Bator; son, Timothy Reynolds and his wife Amy; grandchildren: Dylan, Katelyn, Ryan, Lily and Jack; brothers: John and Arthur Gildea; plus many nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by sisters Patricia Doyle and Catherine Cronin.

Her family received visitors on Sept. 6 at James F. Lulves Funeral Home in Cornwall-on-Hudson. A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Wednesday, Sept. 7 at St. Thomas of Canterbury Church in Cornwall-on-Hudson.

The family requests that donations in Irene’s memory please be made to a charity of one’s choice.

Joseph L. Ward

April 22, 1928-September 5, 2016

Joseph L. Ward of Cornwall entered into rest on Monday, Sept. 5. He was 88.

The son of the late Oscar and Florence Dillon Ward, he was born on April 22, 1928 in Newburgh.

Joseph was a graduate of Cornwall High School and a parishioner of St. Thomas of Canterbury Church.  He was a retired building Inspector for the Town of Cornwall, as well as being retired from West Point Tours.

His many positions included: part time dispatcher for Town of Cornwall Emergency Services; Life member of Highland Engine Co. #1; past Chief and past Commissioner of Cornwall Fire Dept.; Life member of Cornwall Volunteer Ambulance Corps.  Joe was also a past Orange County Fire Investigator, an honorary life member and past treasurer of NYS Building Officials Conference, an honorary member of both Mountainville Engine Co. #3 and Storm King Engine Co. #2 as well as a past employee of James F. Lulves Funeral Home.

Survivors include: daughters Joanne Fornusek (Edward) and Mary Ellen Albarino; son Joseph L. Ward, Jr. (Anne); grandchildren: Edward Fornusek (Donnielle), Amy Fornusek, Tracy Sypher (Nicholas), Patricia Yustein (Craig), John Albarino, Jr. (Emma) and five great-grandchildren.  He was predeceased by his wife , Sheila B. Ward, granddaughter Karen Fornusek, and brother John J. Ward.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, Sept. 8 from 3-7 p.m. at James F. Lulves Funeral Home, 9 Avenue A, Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, Sept. 9 at 10 a.m. at St. Thomas of Canterbury Church, 340 Hudson St., Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY.  Interment will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery.

James A. Ward

April 26, 1933-September 2, 2016

James A. Ward, of Cornwall-on-Hudson entered into eternal rest on Sept. 2 at his home. He was 83 years of age.

The son of the late Michael and Nora (nee Trayers), James was born on April 26, 1933 in Turla, Ballymoe, Castlerea, County Roscommon, Ireland. He was a retired Security Officer for Cushman & Wakefield in New York City.

“Jim was a wonderfully kind and loving man,” his family said, “a gentleman in the true sense of the word.  Our hearts are broken with our loss. He will be missed greatly by so many.”

James is survived by his loving wife, Mary J. Ward (nee Coneran); his son, James C. Ward; his daughters, Brenda Mannion  and Lori Ward; his daughter-in-law Pam Ward, sons-in-law Vincent Mannion and Michael O’Keefe, his seven grandchildren, Shane, Sinead, Kelly, Gavin, Tara, Dylan and Ryan; his sisters, Della Loftus, Nonie Gamble and Maura Queenan; as well as his many nephews and nieces.  James was predeceased by his brothers, Thomas, Michael and Patrick.

His family received visitors on Monday, Sept. 5 at Quigley Bros. Funeral Home, in Cornwall-on-Hudson.  A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Sept. 6 at St. Thomas of Canterbury Church in  Cornwall-on-Hudson.   Interment at St. Thomas Cemetery in Cornwall followed the Mass.
