William Edward Fulton

July 8, 1929-January 14, 2013

William Edward Fulton of Cornwall-on-Hudson entered his heavenly home on Jan. 14.  He was 83.

The son of Ray P. and Marion O’Neil Fulton, he was born on July 8, 1929 in Cornwall-on-Hudson  He was married to Colette Corwin Fulton.

Bill served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.  He was a member of Cornwall American Legion Post 353, having served as Commander and on the Boys State Staff.

A founder of the Cornwall Continentals, he was a re-enactor with the 3rd  N.Y. Reg. Revolutionary War soldiers, and a life member of the NRA.  He was also a member of  St. Thomas of Canterbury Church, the National Temple Hill Assoc., the Orange County Historical Society, the Cornwall Historical Society, and the Ancient Order of Hibernians.

A retired teacher from Dutchess County BOCES, Bill arranged for his students to build the bandstand for the Village Centennial in 1985.

He loved his community, and was a constant companion of his wife, Colette, for 57 years.

Bill and Colette had many happy years, touring the west with their dear friends in The Zane Grey West Society. They loved their trip to Ireland with the Cornwall Recreation Department, and looked forward to their September trips to Wildwood, N.J.  They had been volunteer gardeners at Constitution Island.

Everyone loved Bill’s gentle kindness, his dry humor, and his Irish smile.   He will be deeply missed.

He leaves behind his wife, Colette, at home: their loving children; Raymond, Kathleen (Craig) Davidson, Karin (Douglas) Caufaglione, and Ryan: grandchildren; Raymond Fulton, Elizabeth and Grant Davidson, Johanna, Liam and Joshua Caufaglione; nephews Karl and Gary Lehr; cousin Joan Gleason and several grandnieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters, Marion McDonal and Aileen Lehr, his nephew Elvin E. McDonal, and his brother Fred Weber.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Thomas of Canterbury Church.  Interment  followed in St. Thomas Cemetery.

Charles A. Kennedy

January 9, 1926-January 15, 2013

Charles A. Kennedy of New Windsor died on Jan. 15 in Orange Regional Medical Center in Wallkill. He was 87.

The son of George and Elizabeth Knowles Kennedy, he was born in New York City on Jan. 9, 1926. He was married to the late Dolores P. McNamara, who passed away on Feb. 11, 2005.

Survivors include his son Charles Kennedy of New Windsor; his daughters Patricia Leonard of Amherst, N.H., Catherine Scarnecchia of Manchester, Vt. and Elizabeth Kennedy of the Bronx; his brother James Kennedy and his wife Eileen of Purchase; his grandchildren Daniel Scarnecchia, Clare Sutherlan, Caitlin Scarnecchia, Stephen and Kathleen Leonard; and several nieces and nephews.

The family received visitors at the Quigley Brothers Funeral Home on Jan. 18; a Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Thomas of Canterbury Church on Saturday, Jan. 19 and was followed by burial in St. Thomas Cemetery in Cornwall.
