Donna Ann Colombo, age 56, was a longtime resident of Highland Mills before moving to Ocala, Fla. in 2006. She passed away suddenly on Thursday, June 1. Donna was born on July 10, 1960, in Queens, New York to Dorothy Ward and Malcolm McEntee. She was one of three children.

Survivors include her son, James Skoufis and his wife Hillary; and her daughter, Melissa O’Neal and her husband Cory, who recently became parents to Donna’s grandson Colton. She is also survived by her partner Brian Eppinger; sister Janet DeLuca; and brother Robert McEntee.

Elsie Cyr, beloved wife and mother, joined her husband of 63 years in eternal peace on May 23.  She was 89 years old.

Elsie was born at the West Point Hospital, the daughter of an Army sergeant. She was a working woman for most of her life, starting as a telephone operator in Florida and New York, and finishing with a 20-year career as a police dispatcher for Highland Falls. She helped found the Sacred Heart Church Thrift Shop, and at a time when many women did not drive, was a willing chauffeur for her many friends.

Florence Louise Brooks was reassigned to her heavenly home of record on the 8th of May after 87 years of exemplary performance as an angel of God here on earth.  She was born in August of 1929 to the late Maude and Norman Clark of Wallkill.  Raised on a dairy farm in rural New York during the depression, she learned the value of hard work, dedication and team spirit early in life.

Marcia “Lisa” Meyer (nee Chutkowski) died peacefully on May 13 in Clearwater, Fla. at the age of 63. Lisa is survived by her son Rodney, his wife Danielle, and their sons Keith and Garret of Denver, Col.; and by her son Joseph, wife Jessica, and their children Lillian and Joseph of Hudson, Fla. She is preceded in death by her husband Rodney “Rod” Meyer of Council Bluffs, Iowa and both her parents, Lois and Joseph Chutkowski of Cornwall. The funeral will be held at St. Alfred’s Episcopal Church in Palm Harbor, Fla. on May 19.

Paul Casaccio

Paul Casaccio, age 87, passed away peacefully at home on May 2.  He was born in Brooklyn on June 9, 1929.  He most recently resided in Cornwall with his beloved wife “Ginny.”

The son of Nicholas and Theresa Casaccio, Paul had three sisters; Tony, Mary and his last living sister and partner in crime at the casinos and good luck charm, Angie.

Paul served in the Army during World War II and resided in The Presidio as the company baker.  He met the love of his life, Virginia Rosselli at St. Bridget’s Church in Brooklyn at the “21 and over” dance.  She was working the coat check and he asked her to dance.  She said “no” the first time, but he came back and that time, she said “yes.”  The rest is history.  Paul had two daughters; Linda and Donna.  He started and ran Newburgh Window Shop in 1959 and had many happy customers.

Richard (Richie) Walter Browne, 73, died peacefully at home in Sausalito, Calif. on Sunday April 2.

Richard grew up at the U.S. Military Academy, with his father Capt. Walter Browne, the Academy golf coach, and his mother Katherine. He attended the Manilus Military School, and graduated from Highland Falls High School. He went on to earn a degree in golf agronomy from University of Massachusetts and became a well-respected golf pro. He was the beloved golf superintendent at Garrison Golf Course for 30 years.

Jo Emily Stacy, Highland Falls High School Class of 1967 and resident of New Smyrna Beach Florida, died April 11, 2017 after a long battle with emphysema. Jo was known for her generosity and acts of kindness to all creatures great and small, family, friends, and anyone else she could reach.

Jo was born in Coronado, California on August 26, 1949. She grew up in a military family with eight brothers and sisters, and traveled throughout the country and the world during her childhood and her adult life.

Salvatore “Sam” Cassella, of Cornwall-On-Hudson entered into eternal rest on April 6 at his home.  He was 87 years old.

The son of the late John Cassella and Jennie D’Amico Cassella, Sam was born on August 20, 1929 in Chester.

Sam honorably and proudly served his country as a member of the U.S.  Navy during the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam  War and retired after 20 years, achieving the rank of Chief Petty Officer.  After being discharged, Sam was employed by the New York Military Academy as a carpenter and custodian.

Dolores Falco passed away at home in Cornwall on March 30. She was 85. Congestive heart failure finally won out.

Dolores was the only child of Mary Kane Mitchell and Arthur Mitchell.

The first job “Sis” had, was in the Commodore Ice Cream Shop on Broadway, Newburgh. She never forget how to make a Banana Split. The owners were fond of her and years afterward welcomed her visits when she had a little boy of her own.
